About Our Container Terminals and Services Solutions
With more than 31,000 TEU of combined storage capacity, our container terminals provide the infrastructure required to keep containers operational, compliant, and in circulation across the UK. Our network offers both short and long-term storage for loaded and empty containers, alongside specialist handling services designed to optimise turnaround and utilisation.

Our Process
An overview of our typical delivery process for container terminals and services, showing how this solution is managed end-to-end. If your requirements fall outside this process, our team can advise on the most appropriate setup.
Setup
New customers must create an account or arrange a Pro Forma payment before using our container terminal services. Any specialist handling, storage, or non-standard requirements must be agreed in advance directly with the relevant terminal.
Book (External Hauliers)
If your delivery or collection is being carried out by a third-party haulier (not Maritime Transport), a chargeable booking must be made through our Container Booking System (CBS). Access CBS at cbs.maritimetransportgroup.com
Details
Within CBS, enter the terminal, vehicle details, container number, references, PINs, and import/export information required for the movement.
Confirm
Review and confirm the CBS booking. A booking reference is issued and is required for access to the terminal.
Arrive
Attend the terminal within the booked CBS time slot. All deliveries and collections are validated on arrival before proceeding.
Our container terminals remove common supply chain bottlenecks by linking off-dock and inland storage directly with our national road and rail network, providing greater flexibility, cost control, and resilience when volumes fluctuate or disruption occurs.
National Container Terminal Network
A network of rail-connected and port-adjacent container terminals providing UK-wide coverage, linking major ports with inland locations and allowing containers to be positioned, stored, or redistributed where required.
Cost-Effective Off-Dock Storage
Off-dock container storage offers a cost-effective alternative to quay-side storage, helping reduce demurrage and detention once free time ends. Facilities are available at the ports of Liverpool and Ipswich, with additional empty-container capacity in Felixstowe and DP World London Gateway.
Resilience and Contingency
When disruption occurs, from port closures to industrial action, our national network provides built-in contingency. Containers can be redirected to alternative sites or inland terminals at short notice, supported by our dedicated road and rail resources.
On-Site Container Services
On-site services include maintenance and repair, reefer support, export preparation and container conversions, allowing operational issues to be resolved without removing containers from the terminal network.
Customs-Approved and Secure Facilities
ETSF-approved locations provide customs clearance capability, with 24/7 monitored yards offering secure storage for hazardous and high-value cargo across our container terminal estate.
Investment in Capacity and Systems
Ongoing investment in terminals, handling equipment, and digital management systems improves capacity, visibility, and operational efficiency across our container terminals and services network.
Specialist Container Services
Across our sites, dedicated teams deliver inspection, vanning and devanning, reworking, and maintenance and repair services for dry and reefer containers, including plug-in, monitoring and export preparation. Facilities also support refurbishment, repainting, and internal modifications, as well as container conversions tailored to operational, project, or welfare use.
